“Anything that can be dreamt of can be built"
I was born in the capital of Malaysia, but raised in Singapore, which explains my accent, in case you cannot hear me speak, I finished my architecture degree in L’Ecole Speciale d’Architecture, in Paris, graduating with ok-fluent French, this is me being humble. At the end of year 1999, I returned to Singapore and started my work profession as an Architect.
As time passes, somehow, here I am, since December 2005 - residing in Shanghai, in this shinny big apple of the middle kingdom in the east.
From junior architect to a senior associate, and having several built projects, I have, still, always hoped to accomplish more than what I did, more than just architecture.
I dreamt of myself as an inventor, a writer, a space traveller, a food-savoring machine, a pioneer, an adventurer, and a millionaire. And I really need to work very hard for the last one…
You may call me a dreamer but I believe that anything that can be dreamt of can eventually be built! Be it architecture or an amazing idea! You just need to get it started!
Once I came across this quote posted by a friend on Facebook and it has been haunting me since, “You can only cross the ocean if you have the courage to lose sight of the shore!
“How true!” I told myself. I have to let go of my firm grip of the shore in order to discover something new!
Someone else used to say, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Well, I guess I will have to start travelling again in order to discover and leave some crumbs of footprints!
As much as many of us attempt to stay afloat in today’s competitive society, while some are riding the waves way ahead of the crowd, we need to be constantly inspired and be doing something new, or to look at daily routine acts with a new eye! We need to generate new interests and to spark off new creativity! We need passion in our lives!
I am hoping that, by exhibiting some of my works, my interests and design ideas on my website, I can encourage dreamers, inventors, and on top of all, pushing myself to move forward and not just to stay afloat. With inspiration, I believe that we can do more than we think we could.
